Much
of Ms. Kim's music career has been devoted to teaching young
flutists. She was a member of the faculty of Manhattan School
of Music, Preparatory Division. During that time, as well as
during a three-year residence in Seoul, Ms. Kim guided numerous
students into America's most prestigious music conservatories,
including The Julliard School, Curtis Institute, Manhattan School
of Music, Oberlin, and Mannes Conservatory.
Many
other students who did not pursue music as a career or college
major successfully
competed in regional and state bands and orchestras. Two of
her students have won the National Flute Association High School
Soloist competition.
After
moving to Virginia, Ms. Kim has continued
her teaching career, as well as her performing career, both
as a soloist and as a member of Creo, the only professional
contemporary music ensemble in Virginia. She is currently an
