Manhattan School of Music, Manhattan Music Prep

Mr. Christopher Rosenberg is an internationally active performer, composer, educator, clinician, lecturer, adjudicator, and producer.

He has performed in 23 countries with artists as diverse as Laurie Anderson, Don Cherry, Jerry Garcia, Bob Hope, Anthony Jackson, Pat Metheny, John Mosca, Dick Oatts, Daniel Ponce, Dewey Redman, Lou Reed, Larry Ridley, Lew Soloff, Mark Soskin, and Steve Turre.

He performed with Ornette Coleman from 1987 to 2000. Mr. Coleman’s group, “Prime Time”, won Downbeat magazine’s International Critic’s Poll in 1990 and 1992.

In addition, Mr. Rosenberg has been a featured soloist with the New York Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Orchestra of London, and the Tokyo Symphony.

He is a Verve recording artist. He has been nominated several times to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.

He has also been a consultant and Coordinator of Jazz for the Midori and Friends Foundation. He has directed several ensembles which have won Downbeat’s Student Music Awards.

Mr. Rosenberg currently serves on the college faculty of the Manhattan School of Music where he teaches improvisation, jazz pedagogy, theory, ear training, jazz conducting, and jazz guitar. He is also chair of the jazz department in Manhattan School of Music’s Precollege Division.
