Eric Sessler is is the recipient of numerous awards including the ASCAP Foundation Award, the Charles Ives Scholarship from the American Academy of Arts & Letters, the Theodore Presser Music Foundation Award and grants from American Composers Forum, Meet the Composer and The Philadelphia Music Project.

Among the performing organizations to commission works from Mr. Sessler are The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, The Curtis Institute of Music, The Music Group of Philadelphia, The Bonita Boyd/Nicholas Goluses Flute & Guitar Duo, The Red Heel Theatre and Astral Artistic Services.

Eric Sessler’s Organ Concerto was premiered on February 4th, 2007 by The Curtis Symphony Orchestra with renowned organist, Alan Morrison soloist on the new Dobson pipe organ in Verizon Hall (Kimmel Center, Philadelphia, PA).

Mr. Morrison recently included another Sessler work Fantasy for Solo Organ on his new CD American Voyage (ACA Digital-CM20094). Bonita Boyd, flute and Nicholas Goluses, guitar gave the premier of Hammerhead on January 27th, 2007 in Eastman’s Kilbourn Hall. The duo is scheduled to record the work for Albany Records.

Eric Sessler is an alumnus and faculty member of The Curtis Institute and The Juilliard School. Dr. Sessler’s principal composition teachers were Samuel Adler, David Diamond and Ned Rorem. Additionally, he studied classical guitar with Nicholas Goluses. His website is ericsessler.com.
