MICHAEL GORHAM

Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas; Rockland Conservatory of Music; Concordia Conservatory

A native of Fresno, CA, Michael Gorham received a B.A. from UCLA in 2001. Gorham then came to New York City where he received a Master’s degree in music, as well as a Professional Studies Certificate in Orchestral Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.

Currently he is Principal Trumpet with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, under the direction of Alondra de la Parra. While attending MSM, he was awarded the Kraeueter Musical Foundation Award and the Cecil Collins Award for excellence in ensembles and brass performance.

He is a student of Vincent Penzarella, Tom Smith, Robert Sulliivan, and Bob Karon. In addition to being a much sought after musician in New York City, he can frequently be heard in various venues around New York including Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall.

Gorham has also participated in many national residency programs including The Brevard Music Institute and The Henri Mancini Institute. Serving as Brass Instructor at The Rockland Conservatory of Music, Gorham is also on the faculty at Concordia Conservatory in Bronxville.
