YOUNG-MEE KIM

Director, EuroAsian Festival for Flute; Korean Art School, Ewha Women's University; Former Principal Flute, Korean Broadcast Symphony Orchestra
Young Mi Kim graduated from Seoul High School for the Arts and Seoul National University. Ms. Kim also earned a 1st Prize Diploma at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, and the Val Manbee National School.
Ms. Kim has won numerous competitions, including the Korean Music Association Competition, the Dong-A Competition and the Chosun Competitions in Korea, l’UFAM, and the Kobe International Flute Competition.

After returning to Korea, Ms. Kim was appointed solo principal flutist for the Korean Broadcast Symphony Orchestra, until her resignation 2002. She has appeared as a soloist with the KBS Orchestra, the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Plovdiv State Philharmonic, the Bulgarian Schumann Philharmonic, the EuroAsian Philharmonic, and several other orchestras.
As a recitalist, Ms. Kim has been invited to perform in many venues throughout Asia and Europe, both alone and as a chamber musician. Ms. Kim has been invited to serve as guest faculty for the Bulgarian Plovdiv Camp, the Evian Couchevel 1650, Frontenery le compte International Academy. She also has performed on many recordings, including a duo album with Philippe Pierot, released by EMI.
Ms. Kim is currently director of the EuroAsian Festival for flute, and is an adjunct faculty member of the Korean Art School, Ewha Women’s University. |
