Hyerim Song > Staff Pianist
Hyerim Song, a native Korean, is an active collaborative pianist and vocal coach in the US and South Korea. She has been acclaimed for possessing a shimmering, sparkling playing that is highlighted by her exquisite artistry and an engaging stage presence.
Ms. Song has served on a resident coach and pianist at INSIEM Opera in South Korea, coaching the casts of La Traviata, Don Giovanni, Hansel and Gretel and playing for various opera scenes as well as for the chorus. She has worked and collaborated with Seoul Metropolitan Opera on Cavalleria Rusticana, Turandot, L’enfant et les sortilèges and Rigoletto. And, she has been featuring as a vocal coach and staff pianist at the College and Pre-College in the Manhattan School of Music as well as appearing at the American Protégé as a collaborative pianist.
She was awarded the vocal collaborative pianist fellowship at the Aspen Music Festival and School, and was granted a full scholarship from the SongFest at Colburn. Moreover, she has worked on and performed as a staff pianist at the New Opera NYC, Euro Music Festival, Korea National Opera Festival and Yewool Vocal Music Festival.
Also, Ms. Song has performed at the selected venues such as the Weill Recital Hall at the Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall in the Kaufman Music Center, Flushing Town Hall in New York, Harris Concert Hall in Colorado, Thayer Hall, and Mayman Hall in Los Angeles.
In addition, she has been the collaborative pianist for the prestigious Master Classes, including those of the renowned musicians of Marilyn Horne, Renée Fleming, Martina Arroyo, and Eric Owens, Graham Johnson, Martin Katz, Susanne Mentzer, John Fisher, Rudolf Piernay, Deborah Polaski, Diana Soviero, Lauren Flanigan, Sanford Sylvan, Craig Rutenberg, and Alan Smith as well as celebrated composers including Jake Heggie, Libby Larsen, John Musto and William Bolcom.
Ms. Song received a master’s degree from both of Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Kenneth Merill and Sungshin Women’s University in Collaborative Piano, and bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Dankoook University.
