Lauren Becker > French Horn
Hornist Lauren Becker is an active freelance musician and educator in the Western New York region. She has performed with many orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the United States, including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Eastman Virtuosi, North Country Chamber Players, Ossia New Music Ensemble, Quad City Symphony Orchestra, and Rochester Chamber Orchestra.
In 2009 she traveled to Malaysia to perform several charity concerts benefiting the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation with the Kuala Lumpur International Festival Orchestra.
As a member of the Eastman Wind Ensemble she recorded the album Manhattan Music with the Canadian Brass in 2007 and was selected to tour Canada with the Eastman Wind Ensemble in 2013.
Ms. Becker is currently Lecturer of Horn at Nazareth College where she teaches horn and brass methods, and performs frequently with the faculty chamber ensembles, the Wilmot Wind and Brass Quintets. She is also a horn instructor at the Eastman Community Music School, Hochstein School of Music and Dance, and Nazareth College Community Music Program in Rochester, NY.
In addition to teaching at the New York Summer Music Festival, Ms. Becker has been a staff member at the prestigious Kendall Betts Horn Camp since 2007.
Ms. Becker is presently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and Performer’s Certificate at the Eastman School of Music in Horn Performance and Literature with a Minor in Music Education. She holds a Master of Music degree in Horn Performance and Literature from Eastman and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the University of New Hampshire. Her primary horn instructors include W. Peter Kurau, Kendall Betts, and John Boden.
